RV/MH Hall of Fame
Early camping trailers, motorhomes, manufactured housing, and industry archives explain why northern Indiana became the center of an American way of travel and building.

Artwork inspired by Franklin Booth
The museum is most revealing as an industrial history of Elkhart County. Recreational vehicles evolved through experiments in compact kitchens, sleeping arrangements, chassis, materials, and ideas about leisure; manufactured housing raised parallel questions about factory construction and permanence. Walking through surviving interiors makes design tradeoffs immediately physical in a way photographs cannot.
Follow the vehicles chronologically and enter only those explicitly open. Compare how three eras solve the same problem—sleeping, cooking, storage, plumbing, or towing—then look for the suppliers and production networks that made Elkhart dominant. The hall-of-fame displays add people, but the vehicles themselves are the clearest evidence. Seasonal hours change substantially, so winter visitors should check the current calendar.

Good to know
The museum opens daily in summer and uses reduced winter hours with a Wednesday closure. Admission is paid, and card purchases carry a transaction fee. A large on-site lot serves the event center and museum. The expansive building is generally accessible, but confirm access before relying on entry into individual historic vehicles.
