Rock Island Trail State Park
A 47.5-mile developed rail-trail linking Pleasant Hill and Windsor, where it meets the Katy Trail, with a much longer future corridor still undeveloped.

Artwork inspired by Joseph Paul Vorst
The open developed section follows former Rock Island railroad right-of-way through western Missouri towns, farm country, cuts, bridges, and the striking tunnel at Rock Island State Park’s corridor. Walkers and cyclists share the trail; some portions also permit equestrians.
Do not mistake the entire donated railroad corridor for an open trail. The public developed section currently runs about 47.5 miles, while undeveloped segments are closed. Water, restrooms, food, lodging, and camping are uneven, so longer rides require town-by-town planning.

Good to know
The state-owned corridor is much longer than the trail developed for public use. Distinguish completed sections from acquired or planned right-of-way, then verify the chosen trailhead and any local closure before setting out.
