Ricketts Glen State Park
A steep walk through two forested glens passes 21 waterfalls, but the beauty here requires real hiking preparation.

Artwork inspired by Daniel Garber
Ricketts Glen's Glens Natural Area concentrates 21 waterfalls along rocky trails, with 94-foot Ganoga Falls the tallest. A separate short path reaches Adams Falls, the park's twenty-second named waterfall. The full Falls Trail circuit is 7.2 miles; a shorter Highland Trail loop sees many cascades. Neither is a paved promenade: wet stone, descents, and narrow footing demand attention.
Choose a trailhead by the walk you want. Lake Rose offers quick access to the upper falls but fills early; PA 118 starts farther away and passes old-growth forest. In winter the Falls Trail closes to ordinary hiking and is limited to properly equipped ice climbers and hikers. Check DCNR conditions, carry water, and stay on the marked path instead of scrambling for a photograph.
