President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site
An unusually intact village preserves the world that formed Calvin Coolidge

Artwork inspired by Alden Bryan
An unusually intact village preserves the world that formed Calvin Coolidge Birthplace, family homestead, general store, church, cheese factory, barns, dance hall, and cemetery turn presidential biography into a community landscape. The site is most revealing when Coolidge’s famous reserve is connected to village institutions, family enterprise, and the 1923 oath administered here.
Follow the village sequence rather than rushing only to the homestead, and save the cemetery for a quiet concluding stop. The site is seasonal, rural, and spread across historic buildings; not every interior has identical access. Plymouth Notch survives because the whole settlement—not one birthplace—carries the story.
