Pinhoti Trail — Alabama
More than 170 Alabama miles connect Talladega National Forest, Cheaha, Dugger Mountain, road walks, shelters, and the Georgia line as part of the Eastern Continental Trail.

This is not one uniformly wild corridor. Forest tread, rocky ridges, prescribed-burn units, road crossings, private-edge sections, and resupply gaps require section-by-section reading and respect for multiple managers.
For a day hike, name both trailheads and arrange the shuttle before walking. Through-hikers need current water, fire, hunting, and road-walk information; an old GPX track is not sufficient.
