Northern Delaware Greenway Trail
A mostly asphalt shared path connects Wilmington’s river valley with estates, wooded parks, and Bellevue over more than ten miles.

Artwork inspired by Edward Loper Sr.
The Northern Delaware Greenway is a through-route, not a loop around one attraction. Its 10.4 miles tie Wilmington’s Brandywine Park to Alapocas Run, Rockwood, and Bellevue, crossing former estate landscapes, suburban woods, and the creek valley. The paved surface invites a ride, but “moderate” is not synonymous with flat: the Piedmont grades are noticeable, especially near the river.
Pick a section and a return plan before setting out. Rockwood offers an estate-and-woods starting point, while Alapocas foregrounds the old quarry and Brandywine rock. A bridge connection around Bancroft has been reported closed; check current official trail alerts rather than relying on a full uninterrupted crossing. The mapped place identifies one real Greenway segment, not the beginning or total extent of the 10.4-mile corridor.
