Nevada Museum of Art
Nevada’s only AAM-accredited art museum connects contemporary practice, photography, environmental research, and the landscapes artists change or document.

Artwork inspired by Lorenzo Latimer
The museum’s four collecting areas examine how artists record, imagine, and physically change environments: Altered landscapes, art of the Greater West, contemporary work, and photography. Its Center for Art + Environment expands that idea into an archive where maps, field notes, project records, and land-based practices can matter as much as conventional paintings.
Exhibitions rotate, so check the current list and build the visit around one or two strong subjects. Compare their treatment of place with Will Bruder’s charcoal-colored building, conceived in relation to the Black Rock Desert, then finish on the rooftop terrace to return Reno and the Sierra to the story. Two or three attentive hours are more rewarding than rushing every floor.
