National Aviary
Enter immersive habitats where birds move freely above and beside you.

Artwork inspired by John James Audubon
The National Aviary is not a standard row of bird cages. Its walk-through habitats let many birds fly, perch, feed, and call within a shared space, making patient observation the main activity. Tropical Rainforest and Wetlands feel different in light, vegetation, and sound; Penguin Point offers an entirely different kind of close looking. Move slowly and watch the canopy as carefully as the path.
Pittsburgh's North Side location makes the aviary easy to pair with other neighborhood museums, but allow enough time for an unhurried circuit. Included daily programs may add context, while close encounters carry separate fees and often need a reservation. Parking is limited and paid, so transit or a nearby garage can be simpler on busy days.
