Musk Ox Farm
A nonprofit herd, calves, research, fiber production, and agricultural interpretation show musk oxen as more than distant tundra icons.
Artwork inspired by Fred Machetanz
Guided pasture tours connect Ice Age animals to qiviut and northern husbandry. A nonprofit herd, calves, research, fiber production, and agricultural interpretation show musk oxen as more than distant tundra icons. The story moves from animal biology to a community-based textile economy.
Take the guided tour rather than lingering only at fences, then handle qiviut samples after learning how underwool is collected. All animal viewing is guided and mostly outdoors; reservations are wise, winter hours shorten, and service-animal rules protect the herd. Leave enough time to connect musk ox herd, qiviut fiber, and the surrounding community or ecosystem rather than reducing the place to one attraction.
