Mohican State Park
The Clear Fork cuts through forested sandstone country where gorge trails, Lyon Falls, a covered bridge, Pleasant Hill Lake, mountain biking, paddling, and adjoining state forest create many different park days.

Artwork inspired by William Sommer
Mohican’s identity comes from adjacency. State park, Mohican-Memorial State Forest, Pleasant Hill Lake, the Clear Fork, and private canoe operations share one recreation landscape but not one set of rules. Hikers can link the covered bridge to Big and Little Lyon Falls, climb to gorge overlooks, or use shorter riverside sections; mountain bikers and equestrians have designated networks of their own.
Choose the landform before the activity. The gorge is coolest and most atmospheric after rain, but mud and slick roots increase risk; the fire tower and overlooks reveal the plateau; river trips require a commercial or self-shuttle plan and current water conditions. Trail names repeat across park and forest maps, so download the official map rather than relying on a single app pin.

Good to know
Mohican State Park and Mohican-Memorial State Forest are adjoining but distinct. Cell service is uneven in the gorge, and steep shared-use trails can be muddy; carry the current map offline.
