A paved community path follows a former railroad through Alewife, Arlington, Lexington, and Bedford, connecting transit, town centers, and Revolutionary landscapes. The bikeway succeeds as transportation as much as recreation. Commuters, children, runners, public art, businesses, and historic stops share a corridor whose busiest sections require urban trail etiquette.
Start from Alewife without a car or select a suburban access point. Plan for crowded crossings in Arlington and a less formal continuation beyond Bedford. Busy intersections, driveway crossings, congestion, and winter ice require attention. E-bikes must follow current local rules. Its everyday commuters are as important to the corridor as recreational riders.
