MASS MoCA
Immense brick mill buildings hold long-duration installations, performance, music, and changing exhibitions whose scale can be understood only by walking through them.

Artwork inspired by Sol LeWitt
Immense brick mill buildings hold long-duration installations, performance, music, and changing exhibitions whose scale can be understood only by walking through them. MASS MoCA uses the former Arnold Print Works complex as more than real estate. Columns, windows, bridges, and rough surfaces become active partners for installations, while long-term projects by Sol LeWitt, James Turrell, and others reward return visits rather than checklist tourism.
Wear comfortable shoes, take the campus map seriously, and choose a performance or long-term installation as an anchor. Some light works require separate reservations or have strict entry rules. North Adams weather affects exterior connectors, and a complete visit easily exceeds half a day.

Good to know
The museum is physically extensive, and elevators do not eliminate long walking distances. Performances, festivals, and installation changes can close galleries or transform parking.
