Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum

Louisiana athletic achievement shares a sculptural museum with Caddo, Creole, river, military, and community history from the state’s northwest.

Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum

Artwork inspired by Clementine Hunter

The sports galleries cover athletes, coaches, teams, media, and traditions across many disciplines, but their best objects are not simply championship memorabilia. Uniforms, film, equipment, and oral history reveal how segregation, school systems, rural opportunity, women’s competition, and local institutions shaped who could compete and be recognized.

The Northwest Louisiana History Museum is a distinct reason to visit, interpreting Caddo homelands, colonial exchange, Cane River communities, the Civil War, agriculture, and the region’s creative life. The award-winning building uses fluid interior walls inspired by river movement and bousillage construction. Give both halves time, then step onto Front Street to reconnect the exhibits to the Cane River landscape outside.

Good to know

This is one institution with two substantial subjects, not a small regional room attached to a sports hall. Ticket sales stop at 4 p.m. and admission includes both museums and all exhibitions. Downtown festivals can close Front Street or redirect parking, while exact holiday dates, group lead time, and detailed accessible arrival facilities remain unverified; call 318-357-2492 for special needs.
