Liberty State Park
Waterfront paths connect the New York skyline, a rail terminal, memorials, and a pocket of urban nature.

Artwork inspired by George Segal
Liberty State Park is more than a skyline lookout. The Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal recalls the journeys of people who continued inland after entering the harbor, while the Empty Sky memorial creates a deliberately quiet frame for remembering September 11. Wide lawns and the Hudson waterfront make the park a civic breathing space, but each feature asks for a different pace.
Begin at the terminal and walk the promenade toward the memorial and open harbor. Look west as well as east: the restored and reshaped ground has its own industrial and ecological history. Ferry departures and Liberty Science Center visits are separately run experiences, not included simply because they share the park setting.
