Kent Falls State Park
A short climb follows a mountain stream through repeated drops while a historic covered bridge and picnic meadow frame the park entrance.

Artwork inspired by Eric Sloane
Kent Falls is a sequence, not one uninterrupted plunge. The brook descends through ledges and pools before reaching the Housatonic valley, and a steep path with overlooks follows that change. The covered bridge at the entrance adds a separate layer of Connecticut road and park history.
The small park can close when parking fills, especially during autumn foliage. Stay on the hardened overlook route, keep out of fenced water areas, and expect steep wet steps. Water volume varies with rainfall, so a safe lower-flow day may look less dramatic than promotional photographs. Each landing changes the angle and sound of the water.

Quick guide
- Follow the sequence
- Count how the stream changes between ledges and pools.
- Use the bridge
- Separate the entrance landmark from the waterfall geology.
Know before you go
- Arrive off-peak
- Entrance can close when the lot reaches capacity.
- Use railings
- Wet steps and roots remain hazardous away from the water.
- Stay out of pools
- Barriers protect visitors and fragile banks.
- Accept changing flow
- Recent weather determines the waterfall’s appearance.
Good to know
There is no safe overflow-parking strategy on narrow local roads when the park closes for capacity. Choose a quieter time rather than waiting near the entrance or climbing beyond barriers for a photograph.
