Harriet Tubman National Historical Park
Visit the church where Tubman worshiped, then connect her freedom work to the community she built in Auburn.

Artwork inspired by Elizabeth Catlett
Tubman's Auburn story continued beyond her Underground Railroad journeys. She worshiped at Thompson Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, supported family and neighbors, and worked for the care of older Black people. The NPS-managed church and parsonage at Parker Street anchor this park, while the Tubman residence and Home for the Aged on South Street are operated by a partner.
The church usually opens seasonally on Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m.–4 p.m., with ranger programs during open hours; the NPS site is free. Partner tours on South Street use appointments and a separate fee, and historic interiors may close for restoration. Confirm which property is open before traveling. This Auburn park is separate from Maryland's Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad site.

Good to know
Do not follow a generic 'Harriet Tubman Home' map pin expecting the NPS church. South Street tours have different ownership, hours, fees, and restoration-related access. The gallery’s NPS photo predates the church restoration; see the NPS history page for its current appearance.
