Hancock Shaker Village
A round stone barn, dwelling house, workshops, gardens, animals, furniture, and changing art reveal a communal Shaker world through work and design.

Artwork inspired by Shaker gift drawing tradition
A round stone barn, dwelling house, workshops, gardens, animals, furniture, and changing art reveal a communal Shaker world through work and design. The village makes Shaker simplicity more complicated. Worship, celibacy, communal ownership, gendered authority, agriculture, invention, and market production created objects whose clean form came from disciplined systems rather than modern minimalist taste.
Check demonstrations, animal programs, and building openings before choosing a route. The campus is large and exposed, with uneven historic thresholds and long outdoor distances. Seasonal exhibitions and evening events use separate schedules. This is an outdoor agricultural campus as well as a museum. Mud, heat, livestock, stairs, and seasonal building closures affect the route.
