Grounds For Sculpture
An outdoor sculpture park asks you to discover art through paths, plantings, and changing light.

Artwork inspired by Seward Johnson
Grounds For Sculpture turns a former fairgrounds into 42 acres of art-filled landscape, with more than 300 outdoor sculptures and indoor galleries. The best way through is not a straight line. Let one work draw you off the path, then look again from a second angle: plantings, water, and distance change the sculpture as much as the object itself.
The park was founded by sculptor Seward Johnson as an accessible encounter with contemporary art. Some works are playful or figurative; others reward quieter attention to material and scale. Timed admission helps manage the grounds, and a map is useful without becoming a checklist. Give it enough time to sit down and notice how the garden frames art in different seasons.
