Glenstone
Modern and contemporary art unfolds among purpose-built galleries, a water court, meadow, and woodland on a spacious Potomac campus.

Artwork inspired by Grace Hartigan
Glenstone makes the approach to art part of the experience. A walk from the arrival hall through planted landscape slows the transition into galleries; the Pavilions arrange rooms around a water court whose light and weather change. Architecture and landscape shape how long one looks and what one notices.
The campus rewards an unhurried visit, but its scale makes planning helpful. Choose a few installations, leave time for a path outside, and read staff guidance on works with special opening windows. Access changes between exhibitions. The age minimum is twelve, admission and parking are free, and a reserved visit is normally needed—distinct practical facts easily lost behind the word “free.”
