Fairmount Park
Find riverside paths, historic houses, and open lawns on both sides of the Schuylkill.

Artwork inspired by Thomas Eakins
Fairmount Park is a network rather than one lawn: East and West Fairmount Park frame the Schuylkill with historic houses, recreation grounds, gardens, and trails. The Philadelphia Museum of Art sits near one edge, but the experience changes markedly by entrance. Choose a destination inside the park before treating the map marker as a meeting point.
For an easy introduction, pair the Schuylkill riverfront with a specific house, garden, or overlook. Cyclists and runners make some corridors busy; other wooded areas feel quieter. Transit stops, parking rules, and event closures differ by section, so use the city map for the actual access point you intend to visit.
