Deep Creek Lake State Park
A beach, forest trails, and a discovery center give visitors a genuine public doorway onto western Maryland’s largest lake.

Artwork inspired by Aaron Sopher
Deep Creek Lake is a large recreational landscape, but the state park gives the public a clear place to arrive. Its day-use shore has beaches, picnic space, a kayak launch, and room to look back toward the wooded Allegheny plateau. Inland trails offer a different experience from the summer waterfront, and the Discovery Center interprets local ecology without requiring a beach day.
Choose your visit before entering the day-use area. Trail access and the Discovery Center can be free, while the beach and picnic shore have seasonal vehicle or per-person charges. Swim only where the marked beach is open; winter access shifts as the main gate closes for snowmobile season. A lake panorama is easy, but the park rewards a forest walk as well.
