Crow Pass Trail

Crow Pass Trail

Artwork inspired by Byron Birdsall

A historic pass route crosses glacier country, river flats, and serious Chugach terrain. The long traverse follows part of the Iditarod National Historic Trail past Crow Pass, Raven Glacier, waterfalls, and an unbridged Eagle River crossing. A short out-and-back and the full traverse are fundamentally different trips.

For a day hike, turn at the pass or glacier view; attempt the traverse only with shuttle, river information, and overnight judgment already solved. The Eagle River ford can be lethal at high water, snow persists, bears are common, and cell service is unreliable. Leave enough time to connect Crow Pass, Raven Glacier, and the surrounding community or ecosystem rather than reducing the place to one attraction.
