Clark Art Institute
Renoir, Homer, decorative arts, works on paper, architecture, and wooded trails make the Clark both an intimate collection and a landscape institution.

Artwork inspired by Winslow Homer
Renoir, Homer, decorative arts, works on paper, architecture, and wooded trails make the Clark both an intimate collection and a landscape institution. The Clark joins a focused private collection with research, conservation, and Tadao Ando’s reflecting pools. Its strongest moments move between object and setting: a Homer seascape, a silver vessel, and the view toward Stone Hill all depend on controlled light and patient distance.
Divide time among permanent galleries, the current exhibition, and the grounds. Trails and outdoor installations require different shoes and weather planning, while the Lunder Center on Stone Hill may have separate access. Summer exhibitions draw crowds disproportionate to Williamstown’s size.

Good to know
The campus experience changes sharply with season, and winter free admission does not make every trail or building accessible. Summer exhibition parking can fill early.
