Catskill Scenic Trail
Ride or walk a gentle former rail corridor between Catskill foothill communities.

Artwork inspired by Asher B. Durand
The Catskill Scenic Trail follows a former railroad for about 26 miles across Delaware County, connecting rural access points around Bloomville, Stamford, Grand Gorge, and Roxbury. Its generally moderate grade and open farm-valley views distinguish it from the steeper, rockier mountain hikes nearby. Sections pass fields, woods, and small communities; conditions underfoot can change with weather and maintenance.
This is a linear, multi-use trail, so decide on an out-and-back distance or arrange a pickup before starting. The Stamford depot-area access has designated parking; other official access points are spaced along the route. Expect walkers, cyclists, and horseback riders, and yield appropriately. There is no general admission, but services are limited between villages, so bring water, a route map, and a plan for the return.
