César E. Chávez National Monument

Artwork inspired by Wayne Thiebaud

Nuestra Señora Reina de la Paz preserves Chávez’s office, home landscape, memorial garden, union history, and the practical infrastructure of long-term organizing. Personal spaces make strategy, coalition, sacrifice, and disagreement more tangible than an abstract hero story. César E. Chávez National Monument becomes easier to read when designated (2012), site (La Paz), and admission (Free) are held together rather than treated as disconnected labels.

Use the visitor center to establish the movement’s chronology, then read the garden, buildings, and gravesite as parts of a working community. The monument shares an active National Chavez Center campus; respect private areas, event closures, and the memorial character of the grounds.
