Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts
A dramatically rebuilt Little Rock arts campus combines international works on paper, craft, live theater, studios, and free general admission.

The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts reopened in 2023 after Studio Gang transformed a century of additions into a coherent arts campus. Its strongest collection areas include drawings and works on paper, contemporary craft, and modern American and European art, but the institution is broader than a gallery: a children’s theater, art school, lecture spaces, restaurant, and active studios make production as visible as display.
Use the long central axis to understand the building before branching into galleries. The pleated roof repeatedly opens views toward MacArthur Park, and surviving historic brick appears beside new concrete and glass. General admission is free, while theater performances, classes, and selected programs are ticketed; check what is actually on view because works on paper rotate for conservation and temporary installations can change the balance of a visit.
